Switched On is a free educational rail safety programme. In order to continue to deliver high quality, engaging resources we have introduced a registration page requiring users to sign up to be able to download resources. This helps us to evaluate content to make sure it meets the needs of educators and their pupils.

Sign Spotter Badge activities

Spotting signs is a vital skill that keeps us safe around the railway. Pupils can complete either of the following activities to earn their Sign Spotter badge – or they can complete both to consolidate learning!

To run these activities, download or open the supporting resources below. Further information can be found in the teacher guidance.

Learning the signs with Train Driver Tarj

Pupils are introduced to the important signs around the railway, exploring what they think each sign means and what it is telling them to stay Switched On for.

Build a station with Station Manager Sarah

A fun hands-on activity that encourages pupils to build their own ‘local’ station using different materials and props. They can then act out safety scenarios, showcasing their Switched On learning.
